Benny graduated in 1996 as a civil engineer from Ghent University and from then has always worked within the maritime industry. He started his career in the Engineering Department of Herbosch Kiere NV, later becoming a Site Engineer and a Project Manager before moving to the UK in 2008 as Managing Director of Herbosch Kiere Marine Contractors Ltd. In 2012 Benny returned to Belgium on promotion to Managing Director of Herbosch Kiere NV, an Antwerp based company with several subsidiaries that specialise in river, port, coastal and offshore projects, with particular emphasis on the demolition and rebuilding of quay walls, bridges, locks and jetties and salvage operations. Herbosch-Kiere is a member of the EIFFAGE BENELUX GROUP, which in turn is part of the EIFFAGE GROUP, a leading European contractor. He is a founding Member of the IJUBOA and took over the Chair from John Howard in 2017.

John Howard has worked within the marine contracting industry for over 30 years in which time he has been involved in a wide variety of activities. These include capital dredging, marine geo-technics, demolition, piling and, most significantly, building and operating demountable jack-up barges. John believes passionately in safety and good training. In 2008 he co-founded IJUBOA to get barge operating companies working together to improve standards in the industry. He is still very much involved within the organisations currently overseeing the administration and the booking of courses etc

Simon is a Master Mariner with over 20 years’ experience in Executive Management positions in major maritime service companies. The last 4 years as ‘Chief Operating Officer’ for Gulf Marine Services (GMS), a London Stock exchange listed company.  GMS is the largest provider of offshore Self Propelled Jack Up barges servicing the Oil & Gas and Renewable sectors. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi and operating worldwide, GMS has operating offices in the Middle East, Europe (Aberdeen) and Asia. Simon is committed to innovation and improving operating standards across this industry sector

22 years in civil engineering contracting working as a Safety Advisor, Manager and at Principal Department Manager level managing a safety team. Projects undertaken in the marine civil engineering field; quay construction, marine piling, new and replacement lock gates, wreck removal, surveying. Other civil engineering experience reservoirs, CSO pumping stations, treatment plant structures, dams,  bridges, piling, steel frames and RC concrete works, extensive bespoke temporary works systems in the UK, Europe and Africa.

Qualified as a CITB Trainer and Lecturer for health and safety courses up to NEBOSH level and as Lead Auditor for BS EN ISO 9001

Les has over 20 years in the marine construction and engineering industry with an established and extensive experience of jack-up barge ownership and operations. Les has been involved in the designing, building and operations of Nearshore modular, monohull and walking jack-up barges working with a diverse range of suppliers, ship builders and operators. Since 2012 Les has held the tenure of Director at Fugro who specialise in the design, build and delivery of innovative marine solutions applying in-house knowledge of jack-up barges, marine drilling, engineering and operations. Les is also Managing Director of WaveWalker BV where he has been instrumental in the joint development of the company as well as the construction and operations of the walking jack-up barge WaveWalker 1.

Coming from a true offshore family, it was inevitable that Robin would also follow into the offshore industry and in 2014 he did just that by joining Atlas Professionals.  Robin’s role within Atlas, focuses on the crewing of Jack up rigs in accommodation, renewables, marine construction and installation. A firm believer that the right professional makes a difference on the job, therefore working hard to achieve a safe, reliable and happy workforce. He joined the IJUBOA in 2015 to extend this vision within the association.

Nick Offord founded Red7Marine to provide jack up barges and associated marine plant to the construction industry. Today, Red7Marine is the UK’s leading provider of jack up barges to the construction industry.
Nick’s career in the construction industry began in 1984. Then, after having worked overseas for several large construction companies, Nick returned to the UK in 1999 and combining his passion for structural steelwork with marine plant and overwater working he founded Haven Ports Ltd. This marine construction and plant hire company went from strength to strength and in 2008 merged with Anglian Marine Services Ltd to form Red7Marine. Nick grew Red7Marine into a multi-million pound business that works with the UK & Europe’s leading construction companies and currently operates a fleet of 12 jack up barges and other associated marine plant. Nick is a founding member of the IJUBOA and is now CEO at Red7Marine.

Simon, has over 40 years experience in the marine industry. He initially served at sea for some sixteen years, reaching the rank of Master on tanker vessels and subsequently has held senior positions ashore within both ship owning and management companies operating a variety of vessels, including jack up barges in the oil and gas sector. Additionally he has been on the Board of various organisations including The Cyprus Shipping Chamber and the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency. He has been Marine Advisor to Topbond Group PLC, a marine contracting and specialist equipment supplier, since October 2013.
